In 2009 Quinn was awarded his second "Golden Apple" by the Division of Social Sciences. At that time the Dean of Social Sciences wrote "Both Dr. Quinn and his courses are routinely described as "Awesome," "Transformative," "Amazing," and "Inspirational." His experiential teaching style, the depth of his knowledge, dedication to his students, and ability to create safe spaces for students to learn and express themselves all contribute to his effectiveness in the classroom."

In 2018 the Chair of the Divisional Committee on Academic Personnel wrote in a review of Quinn's teaching: "The positive aspects of Dr. Quinn's teaching reviews are remarkable. Speaking in my position as Chair and a member of DCAP for the last three years, I have never seen glowing reviews like these, with the combination of high averages and deeply heart-felt praise."

In 2000 and 2001 the senior class of Stevenson College invited Quinn to give the keynote address at the graduation ceremony. Because of prior commitments both years, he was unable to attend.
Winter 1997 The Cowell Compass poll: Quinn is one of seven "Top Recommended Instructors." Only one with two courses among sixteen "Top Recommended Courses."
